A Chorus Line: Spotlight on Conor Spangfort

Next, we have Conor Spangfort, who gave a great and amusing performance of Mark.
Moving A Chorus Line from the rehearsal room to the studio was…
Different and exciting. Everything feels different when you’re looking upon rows and rows of empty chairs instead of just a wall or a mirror. Everything changes, and you have to adapt to those changes. Everything became a bit more serious, with lighting and sound and things like that being worked in, but it also became more real, and in the end, much more beautiful.
I learned…
To be confident. As long as you have confidence in yourself and your values, the things that you believe in, there’s not really anything that can shake that. On stage, if you’re confident with your acting, singing and dancing, even if you’re not performing some of them to the best of your ability, if you have confidence in yourself and you try hard, it will still come across powerful, which is something that can be said for all the things in life.
I am going to miss…
Question should rather be what I’m not going to miss. I’m truly going to miss everything and everyone. My life was so absorbed by it that the people that I worked with became my closest friends, seeing them more than the ones that I have at school. Not seeing them now seems surreal to me, and I miss it and them.
Tell us something we don’t know!
You’d be surprised at how many people don’t know what a baller is. I learnt that from some time at the Flying Pan, but at least 4 people don’t know what a baller is, which to me is kind of surprising.
Challenges?
Balancing your life is a true challenge. The events that you miss, the homework that you have to quickly to, the tests that you have to study for are all affected by a show of this magnitude, and so you really have to have to balance it carefully.

What’s next?
Sleep, because sleep is great. In terms of theatre though, I auditioned for YAF’s Matilda play, which seems like an interesting play that I know I’ll enjoy working on (because it’s YAF, YAF is always wonderful).
My dream superpower is…
Easy, I’ve thought about this one a lot. I become Spider-man, I gain all of Spider-mans abilities, I get the Spider-man costume that automatically fits and scales itself to my body, and then I’m Spider-man for the rest of my life. Or teleportation that doesn’t require energy. That’d be pretty cool too I suppose.
If I could meet an artist for a day, it would be…
So many choices. But okay, if it’s an artist, then maybe Anthony Kiedis, or Bruce Dickinson. Or really just all the people from my favorite bands, but narrowing it down it would probably be one of those two.
